A chance to do real life rescue (horse in need!)

We have a chance to save not one life, but two!

I have an opportunity to provide a wonderful home for a very pregnant mare for the holidays. Her deadline to ship is Dec 4, which means I MUST finish raising the money by Dec 3. I’m turning to you to help. You’ve already shown you love horse rescue stories by reading the works by W.M. Kirkland and Mary Winter in the 2 Hearts Rescue series. And while I’ve been busy this November with NaNoWriMo and have more stories to bring you, this mare’s plight also crossed my feed, and I have an opportunity, and most importantly the home, to help.

So I’m turning to you. Her bail and shipping is $875, and there will be additional fees $25-50 for a health certificate and a Coggins test, which is required for any horse crossing state lines. I’ve already got the money for her deposit, and yes, can cover most of the bail, but I need help with shipping costs and other incidentals.

I’m looking to raise $600

Any money over and beyond will go toward supplies for the mare, including a vet visit once she’s here and helping bail other horses.

You see, my goal for the 2 Hearts Rescue series is that not only are a portion of proceeds from the books going toward animal rescue (and I can’t wait to tell you about a sanctuary in West Virginia we’re supporting!), but also to be a fund to help others looking to bail these wonderful horses from the kill lots in which they find themselves, most often due to no fault of their own.

In this mare’s case, she’s gentle, broke to ride quite nicely, and is very pregnant. We’ll never know why she ended up where she did, but I can ensure she’ll land in a safe home in time for the holidays.
